March meeting

Rain prevented another outdoor, Covid-friendly, social distancing bookclub meeting at Alison’s, but Sue managed to connect most of us on Zoom again.

The books Alison presented range from a “cosy crime caper” in an upmarket retirement village in an idyllic little English village to a re-issue of the popular biography of Frida Kahlo by Hayden Herrera. We are introduced to Olive Kitteridge – the “irascible yet winning Maine widow” (about whom a whole tv series was made in 2014 and who won the author a Pulitzer Prize) and meet another writer in the Rachel Carlson-style of novels, Anne Youngson. Also, there is a chance to read One Child by Torey Hayden, another blast from the eighties.

Many thanks Alison - and Sue. Looking forward to some rainy autumn reading days.
