We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!”
So said Humbert Wolfe – a most interesting poet and author and lover of one of my favourite authors, Pamela Frankau; most apt for our windy but really pleasant bookclub meeting under Sue's lovely trees. Sadly we didn't have slender yellow ants falling on us, but we had a classy tea and a wonderful selection of new books. Besides, it was just so good to all be there in the flesh again. New books:
Not Forgetting the Whale by John Ironmonger
In the Midst of Winter by Isabel
Allende
Machines like Me by Ian McEwan
All Rise by Dikgang Moseneke
The Bomber Mafia by Malcolm Gladwell
Snow Country by Sebastian Faulks
Still Life by Sarah Winman
