Christmas at Kirstenbosch

For Bev's December bookclub meeting, we met at Kirstenbosch for a Christmas picnic. After some book exchanging and discussion in the car park, we moved to the garden to get down to serious business - suitably social-distanced and masked to the best of our ability to eat and drink and keep a mask on. We asked a neat looking mom chasing after her toddler to please take a photo of us all, and her friend mom exclaimed "Aaah how kew-oot!" on seeing our little group of mostly over sixties. Little did she know that none of us was at all cute, and many of our group are leaders in various impressive fields of endeavour. Its funny how one teeters into second childhood in the eyes of the young.

Anyway, to cushion our slide into forgetfulness and senility, Bev's fabulous selection of books includes Say Nothing by Patrick Keefe, Blood on the Page by Thomas Harding, the Booker Prizewinner Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart, One Day in Bethlehem by Jonny Steinberg and Robin by Dave Itzkoff.

Happy Christmas and happy reading!
