Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon (2944) - a quick review from Terry:

This book addresses many of the fears of getting old and losing our connection with life as we knew it.  The cover promises that it will be "Funny, Melancholy and acutely observant", which it was. The main character, Florence aged 84, has fallen in her flat at a care facility.  While waiting for help she thinks about her life ... I found the story line in keeping with the theme of the book and despite the sober undertones, there were many chuckle moments.

Some ratings and reviews from Marilyn:

The giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes (3.75) – a love story with an interesting background.
End of Time by Gavin Extence (3.75) – an interesting book about two Syrian youngsters who swim from Turkey to Europe.
The two of us by Sheila Hancock – her life with John Thaw. (4 given that I had hazy knowledge of John Thaw but found it very moving).
Heloise by Mandy Hager (3.75) – a good historical book about the tragic love story.
The Lost Man by Jane Harper (3.75) – a good story set in the Australian outback.
Normal People by Sally Rooney (3) – nothing normal about these people.
